If it still fails, we may need more information as to what is / was installed on those machines and what might be different from the ones that worked. If this still fails I would look up the various manual uninstall procedures available depending on which product was / is currently installed on those machines : The first thing I would try is download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and run it, check for any entry of Symantec Antivirus or Symantec Endpoint Protection and remove it then retry the setup.exe. There is not much information to go on here but generally, Event ID 11708 occurs when there are left overs of a previous version of the product ( SAV x or SEP ) or that there is a SAV install that it is unable to upgrade ( Missing MSI information or something else) MSI (c) (48:18) : MainEngineThread is returning 1603 If counter >= 0, shutdown will be denied. MSI (c) (48:18) : Decrementing counter to disable shutdown. MSI (s) (6C:AC) : Custom Action Manager thread ending. MSI (s) (6C:B0) : Destroying RemoteAPI object. MSI (s) (6C:C0) : MainEngineThread is returning 1603 MSI (s) (6C:C0) : Cleaning up uninstalled install packages, if any exist MSI (s) (6C:C0) : Product: Symantec Endpoint Protection - Installation operation failed. After looking at the %temp%\SEP_INST.LOG file, these are the lines which occur just prior to the installer bombing out (bottom of email). I've been trying to install the SEP client across our network using the setup.exe file I created and have run into a number of machines on which the client refuses to install (it works on the vast majority).
